Update: This article contains only a brief introduction. If you want something more detailed and in-depth, this book is for you. If you want to level up the Sorcerer as fast as possible with the best build, I recommend the first thing to do is head over and get yourself a copy. Not only does it have a much more detailed and up-to-date strategies on the Sorcerer, but an amazing leveling guide as well (see my review). I could have saved myself a lot of trial and error with this.

Sorcerer1-1Attribute points can be provided by every level you gain on the sorcerer. These cam be used to invest in stamina, health, or magicka. The strength of your character may depend on this important choice. A sorcerer will obviously have a major need for magicka. How you use your staff skills and class skills will be determined by magicka. How quickly you can put out DPS will be decided upon by your magicka pool. There is a soft cap for attributes although it is tempting to sink most of your points into magicka. A decrease in the effectiveness of attribute points after a certain amount is caused by a soft cap. However, health cannot be soft-capped, while magicka and stamina can. Therefore, even with an emphasis on health, attribute point allocation should be fairly even over stamina and magicka. Stamina may be less important if you are deciding on a pure mage build. But putting attribute points in stamina may also be a good idea. Dodging, sprinting, manually breaking roots and stuns, and using skills like dark exchange will still call for the importance of stamina. You do not want to limit yourself in this area, since mobility is critical to the sorcerer.

As you get sorcerer’s good gear and your character advances, your demand for attribute points will also change. There is a good chance your gear is providing a great deal of magicka you are wearing mostly light armor. That way, even before attribute points are taken into consideration, it is bringing you close to the soft cap. Since your attributes will be in high demand and nowhere near soft cap, you may want to invest some in health and heavily in magicka in the early game. Depending on your build, you will probably want to save some of the points spent in magicka into either stamina or helath once you surpass level 40. It is vitally important to invest points into stamina if you choose to use a weapon other than a staff. Stat can be brought over the soft cap with veteran ranks increasing attributes across the board.

Regardless of the penalty, some players are in favor of pushing a vital stat such as magicka far over the soft cap. It is not recommended to push this limit very far although it is okay to go slightly over the soft cap. Your health stat is essential to your survival with being a squishy light armor user. Therefore, it deserves a quality investment of points.

The Elder Scrolls Online is coming out soon, and one of its main draws is its freedom of choice. Players won’t be bound to the classic cookie cutter molds that they’ve been made accustomed to in past MMORPG franchises. With that in mind, we know that leveling is going to be a very experimental process for everyone, and nothing is yet set in stone. This can be an intimidating fact for the power leveler who just wants to get to the end game content and maximize their pvp ability as soon as possible. There will be a lot of competition out there, racing just as hard to get to level 50, so how does one make their way in a game that doesn’t have any set rules in place yet? Luckily, the beta period has offered great insights to the way each class is played, so let’s take a look at some basic tips and strategies a player can utilize when playing the sorcerer class.

It is true that any of the four classes in the game will be able to use any weapon and any armor they like in a way that offers wonderfully unique styles of play, however the sorcerer class is reminiscent of past MMORPG caster classes which emphasized maintaining a glass cannon role, and it’s the way many players will utilize the sorcerer once the game is finally released. It’s easy to see why, as the light armor skill tree will offer numerous perks to a player’s magicka use even at the cost of heavier armor that mitigates more damage, so it’s easy to see that light armor will be the first choice for many fledgling sorcerers. As far as weapons are concerned, sorcerers have many ranged spells they can learn from any of their three class skill trees, and if they’re using cloth armor it’ll be good to have quite a bit of space between them and their enemies, so a nice ranged weapon would be one of the most helpful to choose.

The only two ranged weapons to choose from are either the destruction staff or the bow. The bow is certainly not a bad choice, as it allows for the distance a sorcerer will want, but the destruction staff offers that and much more. Sorcerers ought to choose the destruction staff when first starting, as its first skill choice, DestructiveTouch, will give players the ability to not just pick off enemies from a distance but also to stun them once they do get too close. As far as the actual class skill tree to utilize, all three are very powerful in their own right, however Dark Magic will offer the sorcerer some added utility capabilities for additional survivability that the other trees don’t have, so it’d be a great choice for the solo power leveler but might not good for making gold.

Keep in mind that the Elder Scrolls Online will be breaking many molds once it’s released on April 4th, 2014, so there will be many different ways that people will play that are just as effective as any others. Use the above tips to help get started, but don’t be afraid to switch things up to suit a different play style. Deviating from the norm is, after all, one of the strong points of the game.

The Sorcerer is one of the five classes in the game, and it looks to be ESO’s standard magic class. In theory, the Sorcerer would be a spell caster in light robes wielding a staff, but because classes are not limited in what gear they can use the Sorcerer may turn out to be a very versatile class with a lot of options.

Since the Sorcerer is a magic based class, managing your mana is of paramount importance. According to www.elderscrollslevelingguide.com, this goes beyond merely making sure you have a lot of mana, as items, armor, and weapons will have various attributes that can make it worth your while to use. When looting, focus on items that grant more mana, lessen mana cost for spells, or increase the rate at which your mana regenerates. Carrying around a lot of mana potions for those awkward moments your mana suddenly runs out is a good idea as well.

The Sorcerer has three skills trees for you to pursue: Storm Calling, Daedric Magic, and Dark Magic.

Storm Calling, as the name suggests, is mainly about lightning spells and dealing damage with them. One spell in particular in this tree, called Mage’s Fury, has a ‘snowball’ effect in that the longer it is cast the more damage it does. This increasing DPS culminates in a powerful finish just as it expires.

Daedric Magic will focus on summoning creatures to fight by your side. Like in the large single player sandboxes, this opens up multiple strategies. For instance, you might use your summoned minion for extra DPS, or you might be of the mind to use it as a meat shield if you are wearing armor that provides a lot of buffs to your magical abilities but little defense. They also make good distractions if you find yourself in a situation that requires retreating to regenerate mana or heal.

Dark Magic is set to be the great crowd control tree that gives the Sorcerer a degree of control over how fights play out. One of the spells available is a knock back, which is good for keeping melee enemies away. Another spell shown off allows the Sorcerer to root enemies in place for a certain period of time, giving them not only a convenient battle tactic but also a useful disengage that makes retreating more manageable.

As a class, the Sorcerer will have a wide range of options when it comes to how they approach any fight, including PVP.
