Game Guide for the Sorcerer?

Getting started on a new game can be rough. While you can play solo in any MMO at varying degrees of difficulty, most players want to be useful to their group. How do we get there? More specifically, how do we become successful, efficient and useful without spending years to good at a game? Having a bit of insight from experienced gamers helps, but how do you find the skilled players? The Internet is chock full of supposedly “pro” gamers, but it takes a lot more than Google to find valuable information from a skilled source.

I’ve flipped through three guides that seem to know what they’re talking about with Elder Scrolls Online Sorcerer class. The main reason I care about looking through guides is for fast leveling paths and gaming the market, but there’s some charm in these guides that can really help a newbie get started.

Killer Guide’s Sorcerer Guide

elder scrolls online sorcerer guide

I’m no stranger to Killer Guides. I know the quality, but I always shop around and grab extra sources to see what else is out there. Honestly, it’s good to pull from different thought schools.

Killer Guides on its own, however, stuck the landing as expected. The ESO Sorcerer Guide goes deep into what matters in the game and gives you a little extra on the side IF you want to read on. From equipment sets to farming areas for specific pieces of gear before the online databases are up and running, this Sorcerer guide takes the cake.

The guide doesn’t just lay down one optimum build for a set of situations; different viewpoints are poured in, such as choosing the standard Storm Calling tree to keep up basic leveling to Daedric Summoning to let your minions do the heavy lifting.

What’s interesting is that the guide looks like a well thought out conversation between experts, but in the form of a guide that isn’t hard to read through at all. The only major downside is that it’s a bit long.

Not a problem if you want to be the most useful party member you can be, since the guide it perfectly packed with easy to follow info. If you have focus problems, I recommend working through parts of the guide across a few days rather than churning through all at once.

ESO Mastery’s Sorcerer Guide

eso-mastery-guides-220x220Although I saw this guide advertising during beta, I ignored it for some reason. I somewhat regret doing that, because the information is solid. It goes into detail about more than just your rotation, but how different situations call for different spell sets. It isn’t just about single target versus AOE; being able to tag as many enemies as possible and kite them without taking a hit requires a bit of insider knowledge.

From what I can see, you’re not just buying a guide that’ll be obsolete after the first major patch. ESO Mastery Guides updates their guides as needed to reflect changes to the game, including some info about what happened beforehand. This is good for theorycrafters who want to know how Zenimax thinks during development processes.

It isn’t just a guide for experts to talk philosophy–the structure is designed for newbies to get a grasp of the situation. However, the format isn’t as easy to read as the other guides.

While the information is good, it isn’t as chock full of different things to do as a Sorcerer closer to endgame. It is still quite early in the Elder Scrolls Online world, but a lot of the missing info can be seen in other guides.

Maybe as the game continues, ESO Mastery will bring a lot more to the table. I’m certainly not against taking a look. As you consider this guide, make sure that you take a bit of time to glance around at others.

The PVP delight of Theelderscrollsonlineguide.com

bundle-medThis writer of this elder scrolls online guide has been building the guide since beta, with a lot of experience and cleaned up material since launch. While a lot of the info is shared between the three guides I’ve picked out, this guide seems to have a real PVP bite to it, and for good reason.

While the PVP coverage is pretty good, I felt that the guide didn’t offer much for an intermediate player. Still a good guide, don’t get me wrong, but there are many places where a newbie can get some bonus information.

That’s not to invalidate the guide at all. You have to get your info on the playing field immediately, but as I got to the other guides, I saw that there was a big difference in coverage.

Summary

Sorcerer is a really great nuking class. Unless some major changes happen in the game, solo gold farming will be a breeze as you tear up every leveling area and get some farming done with plenty of time to spare. These guides help you figure out the best way to get wealthy AND powerful while the rest of the player-base struggles.

These three guides are all awesome. While I’d mostly go with the Killer Guides version of the Sorcerer builds and tactics, especially for the Dark Magic and Daedric Summoning explanations, they’re all wonderful.

Which Armor and Weapon Works Best for Sorcerer Build?

Update: This article contains only a brief introduction. If you want something more detailed and in-depth, this manual is for you. If you want to level up the Sorcerer as fast as possible with the best build, I recommend the first thing to do is head over and get yourself a copy. The Elder Scrolls Online has one of the most flexible character-building systems of any modern MMO, and this can make figuring out which builds and equipment to use a slightly daunting task. While there are four classes, they can all use any of the weapons or armor in the game, along with the associated skill lines. Which builds and weapons are “best” depend entirely on what role you want to play.

eso sorcerer spells

Let’s start out with armor choice. The most “typical” choice for a elder scrolls online sorcerer class is likely to be Light Armor, due to its various passives that assist with magicka, magicka regeneration, and various other “Mage” abilities. Nearly all of the class skill lines use Magicka, so unless you plan to be less focused on spellcasting (using a non-staff weapon, for example, or relying on summons) you may want to consider this first. Medium Armor tends to assist in Stamina, Stamina regeneration, and stealth, so consider using it as part of your build if you plan on using other Stamina-using skills such as a bow or a melee weapon. Finally, Heavy Armor is mostly about aiding survivability. This can sometimes be a viable option for healing or summoning-focused Sorcerers.

Next we’ll look at weapon choice. The most obvious weapons for a Sorcerer are the three types of Destruction staves (shock, fire, and frost) and the Restoration staff. These skill lines all use Magicka, so as mentioned before you may want to pair their use with Light Armor. The three types of Destruction staff have generally identical attacks with the exception of the crowd-control effects tied to some of the skill abilities, so take this into account when choosing which to use. If you do decide to use bows and melee weapons, make sure you have the Stamina necessary to power their attacks.

Finally, let’s look at the three class skill lines. Storm Calling is largely a collection of direct damage and area-of-effect abilities, with some nice passives that aid in Magicka reserves and regeneration. It’s a good choice with Light Armor for those who want to do damage from afar. Dark Magic is more focused on crowd control abilities and various other “utility” spells, and is best mixed with other primary attacks. Daedric Summoning consists mainly of summoning and defensive spells, which can make it more viable with smaller Magicka pools, allowing more opportunity to use non-staff weapons and heavier armor.

Greatest CC Skills Guide to ESO Sorcerer Class

Update: This article contains only a brief introduction. If you want something more detailed and in-depth, this manual is for you. If you want to level up the Sorcerer as fast as possible with the best build, I recommend the first thing to do is head over and get yourself a copy. The popularity of Elder Scrolls has exploded over the past several years. With the release of Elder Scrolls Online, players have a vast, new territory to explore and new races, classes and skills to master. One of the most powerful skills in the game is the crowd control (CC) ability.

Best CC Skills

The ESO Sorcerer has some of the best CC skills that can be highly effective, especially when battling a horde of enemies. There are three skill lines a Sorcerer possess including Stormcalling, Dark Magic and Daedric Summoning.

Stormcalling

The Stormcalling ability utilizes raw energy to deal massive amounts of damage to the surrounding enemies. The ideal CC spell for this path is Bolt Escape because it offers two benefits. First, it helps the caster to perform instant attacks by teleporting them in a straight line. Second, it stuns all enemies that are in close proximity to the teleportation. This is an excellent spell when fighting many enemies as it allows the player to move around and stun their enemies simultaneously.

Dark Magic

The primary focus of Dark Magic sorcerer spells is on CC. There are a number of trap spells that limit what the enemy is able to do. The three best Dark Magic CC spells are Repulse, Rune Prison and Encase. The Repulse spell causes nearby enemies to be knocked backwards and trapped for a short period of time. When the Rune Prison spell is cast, the enemy is sealed by a runic prison. Those who are imprisoned become disoriented but have health regeneration. Finally, with the Encase spell, dark shards emerge from the ground to immobilize. These spells are so effective because they allow the player to pound the enemy with destructive magic while they are immobile.

Daedric Summoning

With Daedric Summoning, the Sorcerer has the ability to draw powerful allies that can aid him in battle. The best CC skill within the Daedric Summoning path as recommended in esoclassguides.com is the Summon Storm Atronach. This spell allows the caster to summon a powerful helped who has the ability to stun enemies within a specific area. This leaves them open to severe attacks. Not only does the Storm Atronach assist with CC, they can effectively deal lightening damage to foes.

The Sorcerer in the Elder Scrolls Online is a highly effective class. When selecting a magic path that focuses on CC, Dark Magic is definitely the best option. Although the others are powerful, many have had success with Dark Magic spells.

In elder scrolls online it can be said that some of the most mind blowing experiences can be felt when playing as a sorcerer. When choosing the path of a soccer though, it’s worthy to note that there’s a wide variety of skills associated to each race, but a few that work more cohesively a sorcerer. Here are 3 of the best races to select when going down the path of ESO Sorcerer.

AltmerAltmer
If you’re in the Aldmeri Dominion, playing as the ALtmer is undoubtedly the best race to choose within the game when choosing the path of a Sorcerer. The Altmers have a huge magicka bonus that increases your overall max maigcka. If you increase this overtime, your max magicka will be so high, you’ll be able to easily dish out spell after spell without rest. Unlike other races, all the Altmer’s bonuses are entirely dedicated into building a truly powerful Sorcerer. They also have a bonus of ten points for alteration, destruction and mysticism along with five bonus points for alchemy, conjuration and illusion.

Breton
Breton
Sorcerers naturally tend to have a low defense in all RPG games, this is done in order to balance all the classes. Sorcerers have the ability to inflict an incredible amount of damage. To help counter this you can play as the Breton. They have an increased defense and a wide variety of magicka bonuses. Their defense bonuses are also very useful because sorcerer with dps build do not get much points to use on increasing their health. They have a bonus of ten points for conjuration, mysticism and restoration. They also have a bonus of five points for alchemy, alteration and illusion.

Dunmer
DunmerAnother perfect example of one of the race’s ability to enhance the experience of playing as a soccer is the Dunmer. This race is available to those within the Ebonheart Pact. In comparison to the other races, they have a higher than average magicka score and inflicts extra damage when casting fire spells. They have a bonus of ten points for blade and destruction and also five points for athletics, blunt, marksman and mysticism.

Choosing any of these three races is sure to increase the overall experience of being a elder scrolls online sorcerer class. As you can see, the Atlmers or high elves are more on the lighter side of sorcerer spectrum, the Dunmer or Dark Elves specializes in darker forms of magic while the Breton would be considered a greyhat magician.

DPS Build for the TESO Sorcerer

A DPS Sorcerer has a few options when it comes to choosing the best build. If you prefer to use a pet, you will want to put some points into the Deadric Summoning skill line. If not, you will want to focus more on the Storm Calling skill line which is purely offensive. The third skill line is supportive in nature. Here are some of the best skills and abilities you should consider taking from all three sorcerer skill lines:

Storm Calling

The Storm Calling skill line is focused on dealing lightning damage. For active abilities, you will want Mage’s Fury,  the damage dealing skill all sorcerer should have,  and Surge. Lightning Form and Lightning Splash are more situated for fights with a high amount of adds to kill. Bolt Escape is an optional stun.

For passive abilities, you will want to grab Capacitor, Energized, Disintegrate and Expert Mage. All are important. In most cases, you will want to use the Ultimate from this tree, as it will increase your damage significantly.

lightning spells

Dark Magic

The Dark Magic skill line is full of supportive abilities. Most are optional, but some can be very handy. Dark Exchange is probably the most useful active ability as it allows you to regenerate both Health and Magicka. It means that you could heal yourself without having to group with the eso templar class. The other active abilities are crowd control abilities that are optional.

For passives, you will probably want Unholy Knowledge at least. The rest are focused more for players who use a lot of CC abilities. The Ultimate ability in this tree isn’t nearly as useful as your other two options, but may be beneficial for certain fights where an offensive dispel is needed.

Daedric Summoning

If you love playing a pet class, you will want to invest quite a few points into the Deadric Summoning skill line. Daedric Curse is a damage-over-time ability that will be useful for all DPS specs during longer fights. Unstable Familiar and Summon Winter Twilight are your pet-summoning abilities. Conjured Word is decent for gameplay survivability, but optional.

All DPS Sorcerers may find that Power Stone is quite useful, as it reduces the Ultimate cost of abilities. Other passive abilities in this tree are for players who have chosen to use a pet. This tree’s Ultimate is also pet-focused.

Sorcerers have many options when it comes to choosing a build that does maximum DPS. You should first consider how heavily you wish to utilize a pet in combat then choose your point placement based on that decision. Pets can deal decent damage, but can also be a liability at times.

The sorcerer class will have players taking the role of spell caster and summoner. Players will have the ability to personally wreak destruction with powerful direct damage attacks, to change the tides of battle with varied crowd control spells, or to summon powerful Daedric companions to do their bidding for them. While each individual tree has their own strengths and weaknesses, it’s important to remember that classes in The Elder Scrolls Online will be able to mix and match skills from different trees(See more information in elderscrollsonlineclasses.org). You won’t be forced to choose just one.

sorcerer storm calling

Storm calling will be the first choice for sorcerers wanting to dish out as much damage as they can. The passive skills in the storm calling tree are fairly straight forward, such as increased regeneration, a flat increase of lightning damage, a reduction of cost for some spells, and the chance to disintegrate low health targets. The active skill “Bolt Escape” will allow sorcerers to teleport in a line and stun enemies. “Lightning Form” will surround the sorcerer in electric bolts, increasing damage reduction for a short time. The other damage dealing active spells, “Mage’s Fury,” “Lightning Splash,” “Surge,” and the ultimate “Overload,” will be the player’s go to damage dealing abilities.

Dark magic is the second skill tree choice for sorcerers, and one that focuses on crowd control and utility. The passive skill “Blood Magic” heals you whenever you hit an enemy with one of your dark magic skills. When you’re hitting an enemy affected by dark magic, “Exploitation” will guarantee you an increase critical strike chance against them. The active skills of this tree are an array of useful crowd control abilities that will have your enemies knocked backwards, disoriented, immobilized, or snared. The ultimate skill for eso sorcerer, “Negate Magic,” is very powerful. It will dispel any magic effects in a target area, as well as damage and silence any enemies that are spell casting.

Daedric summoning is the third skill line for a sorcerer, and, you guessed right, it deals with summoning Daedra. Summoned Daedra, aside from fighting for you, will each either give you a unique buff, or debuff your enemy. The passive skills in Daedric summoning will reduce the cost of your summoning spells, or bolster your Daedric companions.

Don’t forget, the beauty of TESO is in the game’s dedication toward allowing the player to play how they’d like. Each of these three skill trees for the sorcerer are powerful in their own ways, you can always mix and match to allow for a vigorous, hybrid play style.

5 Devastating Skills Your Sorcerer Should Have

The world of the Elder Scrolls Online is truly immense. In order to have the greatest impact on impressive characters that you encounter, it’s vital that you’re also in possession of a well rounded and intimidating character. This will require plenty of hack and slash time, which will enable your character to level up. With leveling up, certain abilities will become available to you to use. Take advantage of this opportunity and teach your character only the most relentless of fighting abilities. If you’re playing with a sorcerer, there are certain abilities that are completely necessary for you to have the most exciting time on the Elder Scrolls Online.

It’s important to keep in mind that certain abilities will be connected to only certain skill lines. For example, with the Dark Magic skill line, certain abilies are much more prominently used. The first skill line, which goes by Storm Calling, will have completely different abilities available, as well. This also goes for the Daedric Summoning skill line. With each line, you have your sub-par attacks and your fair share of devastating abilities. The following will only outline the best of the best of each.

Dark Exchange is an ability that is highly suggested for those who are seeking to create a character who fights purely (or mostly) with magical abilities. Using Dark Exchange, the character gains the ability to give up stamina, in exchange for both life and mana. This ability has such an attractive quality, due to the fact that you have the ability to give up something of less importance to a sorcerer, in exchange for two things that are most precious. It can come in handy with those dire situations, where you run out of life potions and teetering on the brink of death.

The second skill in this eso guide list as refer to www.tesguide.com is geared most towards sorcery characters with a high favor of offensive abilities. With the Bolt Escape, you have the ability to move in a straight line, quick as lightning, while also slicing through your enemies for a “shocking” effect. This attack stuns enemies, allowing you the chance to deal devastating blows to their life energy.

Mage’s Fury is the third ability in our list, which is also most favored by offensive minded sorcerers. No elemental sorcerer should be without this horrendous ability. Rain lightning from the sky, effectively causing damage to large groups surrounding your character. There is also the chance of debuffing an enemy, which can actually cause them to explode from the force.

The fourth and fifth abilities do the most damage, when combined. When any type of summoning ability is coupled with the Expert Summoner ability, you have one force to be reckoned with. This skill increases numerous aspects of a summoned Familiar, Atronach, and a Winged Twilight summon.

The Sorcerer is one of the five classes in the game, and it looks to be ESO’s standard magic class. In theory, the Sorcerer would be a spell caster in light robes wielding a staff, but because classes are not limited in what gear they can use the Sorcerer may turn out to be a very versatile class with a lot of options.

eso sorcerer

Since the Sorcerer is a magic based class, managing your mana is of paramount importance. According to www.elderscrollslevelingguide.com, this goes beyond merely making sure you have a lot of mana, as items, armor, and weapons will have various attributes that can make it worth your while to use. When looting, focus on items that grant more mana, lessen mana cost for spells, or increase the rate at which your mana regenerates. Carrying around a lot of mana potions for those awkward moments your mana suddenly runs out is a good idea as well.

The Sorcerer has three skills trees for you to pursue: Storm Calling, Daedric Magic, and Dark Magic.

Storm Calling, as the name suggests, is mainly about lightning spells and dealing damage with them. One spell in particular in this tree, called Mage’s Fury, has a ‘snowball’ effect in that the longer it is cast the more damage it does. This increasing DPS culminates in a powerful finish just as it expires.

Daedric Magic will focus on summoning creatures to fight by your side. Like in the large single player sandboxes, this opens up multiple strategies. For instance, you might use your summoned minion for extra DPS, or you might be of the mind to use it as a meat shield if you are wearing armor that provides a lot of buffs to your magical abilities but little defense. They also make good distractions if you find yourself in a situation that requires retreating to regenerate mana or heal.

Dark Magic is set to be the great crowd control tree that gives the Sorcerer a degree of control over how fights play out. One of the spells available is a knock back, which is good for keeping melee enemies away. Another spell shown off allows the Sorcerer to root enemies in place for a certain period of time, giving them not only a convenient battle tactic but also a useful disengage that makes retreating more manageable.

As a class, the Sorcerer will have a wide range of options when it comes to how they approach any fight, including PVP.

pvp in the elder scrolls online

If you play the Elder Scrolls Online, you likely know that the Sorcerer is one of fourplayable classes through the game. This character class allows you to cast spells and attack from a distance, which provides a unique game play experience. There are a number of people who may be interested in trying out this class for Player-versus-Player battles. These are a common occurrence in ESO, so you may want to prepare for them. If you haven’t yet thought of the right way to utilize this class during PvP, you may want to try it out for yourself.

First, you may want to just think about how PvP works when you play this game. You will need to be at least level 10 before you are allowed to participate in these different matches. This will help make sure that the matches are competitive and not one sided. If you opt to engage in a PvP battle, make sure you are prepared to deal with a number of different strategies. Many people will use different character classes in different ways throughout the game. You should also realize that PvP in ESO operates slightly differently than other styles of the game. You won’t have to have any cool down periods when you use your abilities. It will be all about resource management when you utilize this sorcerer class.

You might also be interested in hearing about some different advantages you could expect to get from the sorcerer. Some think that the sorcerer class is best equipped to deal with the challenges that the PvP format presents. You will still need to get a considerable amount of practice to understand all the skills of the Sorcerer class. If you spend your first 10 levels doing this, you will be at a considerable advantage. It can also show you how you may want to think about utilizing your skill set to give you a competitive edge.

Finally, think about reading up on some other details of the PvP system in ESO. You can actually level up by partaking in different battles, though it can be more difficult this way. You will need to master your class and the abilities that it carries for you. Most players will be gaining this kind of experience and preparing themselves to do it. If you haven’t ever practiced before, you might be surprised by the level of expertise that many others display.

A large swath of gamers, myself definitely included, gravitate towards the magic users in games. We shun weapons and embrace our latent powers in its stead. Who could deny that lightning coursing from your hands is infinitely more satisfying than swinging a dinky little axe? So, my fellow wizards, warlocks, sorcerers and witches, today, we’ll be discussing the races in The Elder Scrolls Online and which are best suited for arcanery rather than weaponry.

Scrolls, Elders and Wizadry: Choosing Your Race

The tradition of Elder Scrolls is that you can do anything on anybody at any time. You could be an Orc Battlemage if you so desired! However, in the field of MMORPGs, especially those focused on PvP, players are entirely about min-maxing; That is to say, getting every last drop of advantage you can give yourself.

The races in Elder Scrolls Online are broken into three groups: The Aldmeri Dominion, The Daggerfall Covenant and the Ebonheart Pact. The Aldmeri Dominion is led by the Altmer, and followed the Bosmer and the Khajiit. The Daggerfall Covenant is a democratic alliance of the Breton, Orcs and Redguard. Finally, the Ebonheart Pact consists of the north-dwelling Nords, Dunmer and Argonians. Each of these factions has three races that naturally gravitate towards each of the traditional archtypes of magic, strength and stealth. We’ll be focusing those magically inclined races, but I will touch on the others briefly afterwards.

The Altmer, or High Elves, of the Aldmeri Dominion are the most magically inclined race, proficient in almost every school of wizadry, but it comes at a price; They are also very succeptible to magic themselves and come with a low constitution relative to others. Altmer lend themselves well to glass cannons that destroy from afar, but shatter at a touch. They’ll require high skill and good teammates to reach their maximum effectiveness.

Altmer
The Dunmer, or Dark Elves, sitting in the Ebonheart Pact are often powerful wielders of destruction magic, and their volcanic heritage tends to lead them towards fire spells in particular. They are also quite agile, and make a great fit for mages who want a bit of tact and stealth in their repertoire.

Dunmer

Finally, the Bretons, ancient descendants of both elves and man, are very hardy folk, and are naturally inclined towards restoration magic. Bretons will make very powerful battlemages if one chooses to pursue armor instead of robes; Their naturally high defenses combined with potent restoration magic will make them a very difficult threat to kill, but they won’t be the damage powerhouses that Altmer are.

Bretons

You can choose to pursue magic on any race, however, and many races have a tendency to combine magic with their other natural skills. It is not uncommon for a Khajiit thief to have some illusion and alteration spells in his book, and while rare, Orcish battleshamans wielding destruction magic do exist. You can build any combination under the sun, but if you want to reach the highest peaks of damage, you’d do best to stick closer to races that have traditionally been inclined towards magic.

Update: This article contains only a brief introduction. If you want something more detailed and in-depth, this guide is for you. If you want to level up the Sorcerer as fast as possible with the best build, I recommend the first thing to do is head over and get yourself a copy. Not only does it have a much more detailed and up-to-date strategies on the Sorcerer, but an amazing leveling guide as well (see my review). I could have saved myself a lot of trial and error with this.
